Fastest setup path
If you just want the shortest reliable path, follow these steps in order.
1. Install the extension
Add JobMaster to Chrome first so job capture and ATS autofill are available where you apply.
2. Save a role from LinkedIn
Capture the job before you apply so the company, title, and notes follow the application into your dashboard.
3. Sign in when you want sync
Use sign-in to connect saved jobs, autofill profile data, and dashboard tracking in one place.
4. Use the canonical support pages
Check Supported ATS for platform coverage, and Changelog for dated updates when you need current public facts.
How Private Mode works
This is the short version of the architecture: the key starts on your device, supported vault records are encrypted before upload, and the recovery code is the fallback way to unlock the same private vault on another browser later.
1. Key generated locally
When Private Mode is enabled, JobMaster creates a random account encryption key in your browser instead of asking the server to generate it.
2. Data encrypted before upload
Supported private records are encrypted on-device before they are sent to JobMaster storage, where they remain encrypted at rest.
3. Recovery code wraps the key
Your recovery code is used to wrap the account key so a new browser can unlock the same vault later without JobMaster storing the raw key.
4. New browsers unlock once
If you switch browsers, devices, clear browser storage, or reinstall the extension, you usually enter the recovery code once so that browser can store its own local key copy.
Important distinction: Private Mode means encrypted storage and local key custody. It does not mean every request is processed only on-device. Some AI and parsing features still use decrypted text transiently during the live request, even though the saved vault data remains encrypted at rest.
Common support questions
These answers are written for direct extraction, so the page can work as a help hub for users and search systems.
Should I install the extension before I create an account?
Yes. The fastest path is to add the Chrome extension first, then sign in when you want saved jobs, autofill profile data, and dashboard tracking to sync together.
Which ATS platforms does JobMaster support?
JobMaster supports 10+ ATS workflows today, including Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, iCIMS, SmartRecruiters, Jobvite, Rippling, Zoho Recruit, and Paycom.
Do I need LinkedIn sign-in to use the dashboard?
No. LinkedIn sign-in is the best fit if you want full extension sync, but you can still use the web dashboard separately if you only need the organizational side.
Where should I go for the canonical platform list?
Use the Supported ATS page. It is the public facts page for current platform coverage, best-fit notes, and links to the strongest workflow-specific guides.
Can I upload documents or URLs for the AI Assistant?
Yes. Upload Docs accepts files like PDF, Word, Excel, and text, and it can also fetch content from URLs so that material becomes part of the AI Assistant's searchable context.
Can JobMaster store quick links or reusable snippets?
Yes. Quick Notes works as a lightweight quick-links and notes system where you can group URLs or text by category, copy entries quickly, and export them later.
How does Private Mode encryption work?
Private Mode generates a random account encryption key in your browser, stores that key locally on the device, and uploads only ciphertext plus a recovery-wrapped version of the key to JobMaster. Supported vault data stays encrypted at rest until this browser unlocks it.
Do I need the recovery code on a new browser or device?
Usually yes. A new browser, device, cleared browser storage, or reinstalled extension will not have the local key yet. Enter the recovery code once to unlock Private Mode there, then that browser can store its own local copy of the account key.
More tools you can use after setup
Once JobMaster is installed and synced, these are the three dashboard surfaces people often miss: the AI Assistant, Upload Docs, and Quick Notes for links and snippets.
AI Assistant
Ask JobMaster about your applications and interviews
The in-product AI Assistant answers natural-language questions using the application, interview, and job-search context already inside your dashboard.
- - What’s the status of my applications?
- - Which companies am I interviewing with?
- - What should I prepare for my next interview?
- - How many applications have I sent?
Upload Docs
Upload files and URLs that should stay in your search context
Add resumes, job descriptions, recruiter notes, spreadsheets, or crawled URLs so supporting material is indexed and available when you need it.
- - PDF, Word, Excel, and text uploads
- - Fetch a single URL or crawl linked pages
- - Indexed and available to the AI Assistant
- - Useful for research, prep, and reference docs
Quick Links & Notes
Keep important links, snippets, and reference notes in one place
Use Quick Notes as a lightweight library for URLs and reusable text so referral links, hiring portals, and search notes are not scattered across tabs.
- - Save links or plain-text entries
- - Group items by category
- - Copy entries instantly during applications
- - Export your library as JSON or CSV
